The AI Detective Ltd – Terms and Conditions (Individual Subscription)

1. Subscription Service
By subscribing to The AI Detective software, you agree to pay a recurring monthly fee in exchange for access to the service. Subscription access begins once payment is confirmed and continues until cancelled in accordance with these Terms.

2. Access
Upon subscription, you will be provided with a unique hyperlink, username, and password. These credentials are for your personal use only and must not be shared.

3. Payment
Subscription payments are collected monthly in advance using your chosen payment method. By subscribing, you authorise The AI Detective Ltd (or its payment provider) to collect recurring payments.

4. Cooling-Off Period
As a consumer purchasing online, you have the right to cancel your subscription within 14 days of purchase without giving a reason. If you request to start using the service during this 14-day period, you acknowledge that you may lose the right to a full refund once the service has been used. Requests to cancel within the cooling-off period must be sent by email to info@theaidetective.com.

5. Cancellations (after cooling-off period)
You may cancel your subscription at any time by giving at least four (4) weeks’ written notice. All cancellation requests must be emailed to info@theaidetective.com. Access will remain active until the end of your notice period, after which it will be withdrawn. Subscription fees already paid are non-refundable.

6. Usage Limits
Each individual subscription permits the processing of up to approximately 1,000 assignments per month. This limit is approximate and may vary depending on the size of documents submitted. The AI Detective Ltd reserves the right to monitor usage to ensure fair access and prevent misuse.

7. Data Protection and Privacy
All data processed by the Software will be handled in compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • Learner work is processed only during analysis and is not stored once complete.

  • The AI Detective Ltd acts as a data processor; subscribers are responsible for ensuring they have a lawful basis to process any learner work submitted.

  • Appropriate technical and organisational security measures are in place, including encryption, restricted access, and secure deletion after processing.

  • No data is shared with third parties beyond authorised partners, and no data is transferred outside the UK/EEA without lawful safeguards.

  • In the event of a personal data breach, subscribers will be notified without undue delay.

8. Fair Use and Ethics
You agree to:

  • Use the software only for lawful purposes and in support of academic integrity and quality assurance

  • Avoid relying solely on AI detection results for disciplinary action

  • Ensure learners are informed of the software’s use where required

  • Not misuse, manipulate, copy, or share outputs in ways that breach these Terms

9. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the software, algorithms, and reports remain with The AI Detective Ltd. Your subscription grants limited, non-transferable access for personal use only.

10. Service Availability
The AI Detective Ltd aims to provide continuous access but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance or technical issues may occasionally affect availability.

11. Suspension and Termination
The AI Detective Ltd reserves the right to suspend or terminate your subscription immediately if:

  • You materially breach these Terms, including but not limited to sharing login credentials, exceeding fair usage, or using the service for unlawful purposes.

  • You consistently exceed the usage limits set out in section 6.

  • There are security concerns or evidence of misuse.

No refund will be issued in cases of termination due to breach of these Terms.

12. Disclaimer of Accuracy and Liability
The software uses AI to identify potential AI-generated content. While designed for accuracy, no result is conclusive. The AI Detective Ltd accepts no liability for decisions made solely on the basis of its reports. Subscribers remain responsible for how results are interpreted and applied.

13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The AI Detective Ltd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including loss of data, profits, goodwill, or reputation, arising from the use of the software.

14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Any material changes will be communicated in advance. Continued use of the service after changes take effect will be deemed acceptance.

15. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
